Zuhair Murad went rock’n roll !
“My treasured archive went up in flames. I lost almost three-quarters of it, 20 years of work.”
Zuhair Mourad to Vogue
Who doesn’t wanna be draped in a Zuhair Murad’s gown ? There isn’t a single woman who wouldn’t feel like a real life princess in one of his incredible designs.
This haute couture collection was very important for zuhair Murad’s atelier as it was a message of hope and renewal. Sadly, after Beirut’s Explosion, the Zuhair Murad’s atelier went in flame.
The designer wanted to show a sense of resilience I guess, hence the rock’n roll and modern vibe this collection exhales. A number of black looks were imbellised with rhinestones, fringes, and embroideries, while others were showing a fascinating contrast between voluminous shapes of taffeta and skinny mini dresses. The sumptuous gowns Zuhair Murad is known for were also present on the runway and some of the models were wearing italian carnival masks making the collection look more dramatic and bold. The designer really wanted to give his clients what they were asking for, to be out in the world again and shine bright !
